What is Epoxy?

We’ll get to the practical side of things shortly, but epoxy is actually the result of a very interesting and complex chemical reaction. Known as a thermosetting polymer (also known as a thermoset; a polymer that irreversibly cures), epoxy is the result of a reaction between an epoxide (resin) and polyamine (hardener). Lucky for all of us, and contrary to some beliefs, polyamine is legal outside of Utah, which allows all of us to enjoy the benefits of epoxy. So, what is epoxy?
